Australia is renowned for it’s unique Flora, holding a staggering 24,000 native plants and flowers! After looking at this statistic and being asked to give you just 3 examples, this can be very difficult. 3 common species, (that all hold many different types within that) are; Acacia, Eucalyptus and Grevillea.
Acacia - Commonly known as the Wattle. Has roughly around 1200 species, around 950 currently recognised in Australia
Eucalyptus (trees) - There are about 700 species that a solely native to Australia and 12 native else where.

Australia has many different vegetation types but the main 6 are: Closed-forest, open-forest, Woodland, Shrubland, Scrub and heath & Herbland. You can view this dispersed amongst Australia in the map (left).
Flora can be classified into 3 different sections; Native, Agricultural and Weed.
Plants classified as Native are plants that grow naturally in the area with no impact from humans whilst Agricultural classifications are planted and cared for purposely by humans. Finally, plants that are classified as Weeds are considered the undesirable plants but that does not mean they are not beneficial to the Ecosystem because they are!

Sadly because of Human involvement more and more plants are becoming endangered. One of these endangered plants is the Wollemi Pine which can grow up to 40m tall in New South Wales rainforest. There are only 40 adult plants left and just under 200 seedlings.
